Puebla suffered the ravages of the rain this Saturday, causing flooding, fallen walls and trees, and the Zapatero River to burst its banks, leaving motorists stranded.
Social media posts and local media reported that the rain also occurred in municipalities surrounding the capital of Puebla, on roads such as Atlixco Boulevard, Carmelitas Boulevard, and Las Torres Avenue.
The collapse of an elementary school wall was also reported; and in the Torres de Mayorazgo neighborhood, a perimeter fence collapsed, which in turn caused chaos in the area, with no injuries reported so far.
Puebla Civil Protection reported that “due to the rains recorded in recent hours, the Puebla government, through personnel from this Coordination, is working in coordination with the State Police, Firefighters, and municipal authorities to address various reports.”
He added that “preventive patrols are being conducted at various points in the metropolitan area to address potential impacts and safeguard the population.”
The authority recommended “taking precautions when traveling and staying informed on public roads.”
