The Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat) authorized three road infrastructure projects for the Northern and Southern Sierra regions of Puebla.
Among the authorized projects is the expansion of the Huahuaxtla–Pahuata rural road, an infrastructure project intended to improve road connectivity in this mountainous area of the state.
The authorization of the projects allows the corresponding road works to move forward after the environmental review carried out by Semarnat.
The projects are located in regions characterized by mountainous terrain and communities that depend on road infrastructure to maintain communication with other municipalities and access different services.
The Sierra Norte and Sierra Negra of Puebla contain numerous rural and Indigenous communities, making road connectivity an important factor for transportation, commerce and access to education, health services and other public services.
The environmental authorization is part of the process required for infrastructure projects that may have an impact on the surrounding environment. Semarnat evaluates these projects before determining whether they can proceed.
The authorization includes the Huahuaxtla–Pahuata road project, which involves work on an existing rural route.
