With the goal of intervening in 13,000 streets and 73 avenues during 2026, Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier supervised the rehabilitation of 105 Poniente Avenue, a project that is currently 44 percent complete and is part of the state program to restore priority roads, strengthen mobility, and improve safety conditions for families in Puebla, as part of the administration’s 600 days of work.

The state governor highlighted that Puebla City has approximately 53,000 streets and that, at the beginning of the administration, around 80 percent were deteriorated as a result of years of insufficient maintenance. Faced with this situation, he explained that the State Government modified its intervention model to make more efficient use of public resources and increase the number of roads receiving attention. He recalled that during 2025, 4,000 streets and 27 avenues were rehabilitated, while for 2027, the government expects to advance with up to 15,000 additional streets.

As part of this effort, he emphasized coordination with the Government of Mexico and the support of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo to strengthen infrastructure efforts. He explained that Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX) provided 8,000 tons of AC-20 asphalt during 2025 and plans to provide 15,000 tons this year, while the State Government expects to purchase an additional 20,000 tons. He noted that this collaboration was strengthened following state actions against fuel theft, including the recovery of 2 million liters of fuel in the La Encrucijada area.
The work on 105 Poniente Avenue, between 11 Sur Avenue and Prolongación de la 2 Sur, covers 1.71 kilometers, equivalent to 44 streets. The project includes milling 15,286 square meters of asphalt pavement, laying 1,017 cubic meters of new five-centimeter-thick asphalt pavement, as well as vertical and horizontal road markings, sewer manhole leveling, drainage cleaning, and grate rehabilitation.

The work began on July 25 and will benefit 131,420 residents of Infonavit Loma Bella, Popular Castillotla, Popular Coatepec, Loma Encantada, Arboledas de Loma Bella, Villa del Sur, Popular Emiliano Zapata, and San José de los Pinos.
Virgilio Vázquez Ruanova, director of Machinery Control and Maintenance at the Secretariat of Infrastructure, reported that the complementary work will improve road quality and help prevent damage during the rainy season.

The State Government reaffirmed its commitment to continuously working to restore road infrastructure that remained neglected for years and to prioritize routes with the highest traffic, as well as those connecting neighborhoods, schools, healthcare centers, markets, parks, and other public service facilities.

Under this program, residents will be able to submit simple requests to state delegates so that the roads they propose can be considered for inclusion in the 2027 program.
During the inspection, Eduardo Sánchez and Ivonne Salazar acknowledged that the rehabilitation of 105 Poniente Avenue improves safety and mobility conditions. They also expressed their expectation that these efforts will be extended to more streets and neighborhoods throughout Puebla City.
