Three young people who had been missing since the night of August 23 in the municipality of Chignahuapan were found dead with apparent signs of violence, sources within the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) confirmed. The agency is investigating the motive behind the incident.
The discovery occurred two days after the municipality implemented an operational and administrative restructuring of its security cabinet, which included the replacement of its head and the appointment of 11 commanders in police, technical, citizen assistance, and civic justice areas.
The victims were identified as Gabriela Arroyo, 24; Reyna Isamar Rivera, 19; and Alan Loera Pérez, 32.
According to the sources consulted, the bodies of the two women were found in an area known as Los Arcos, located at the former Atlamaxac hacienda in the municipality. Alan’s body was found nearly one kilometer away.
Following the discovery, which occurred during the early hours of August 25, the Puebla Attorney General’s Office was notified, prompting a team of forensic experts and investigative agents to travel to the area to carry out the corresponding procedures and arrange for the bodies to be transferred to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo).
Authorities began procedures to officially identify the bodies, as well as forensic medical examinations to determine the causes of death. The FGE opened the corresponding investigation file to clarify the case.
Gabriela and Reyna lived in the same residence, from which they left on the night of August 23, shortly before midnight. According to their relatives, both women were traveling with Alan in a red Chevrolet pickup truck, which was later found abandoned in the community of Villa Cuauhtémoc.
Since then, the families lost contact with the three young people and began searching for them.
During the early hours of Monday, family members detected activity from Reyna on social media. At 3:23 a.m., she allegedly posted that she was inside Alan’s pickup truck, after he had previously been seen in downtown Chignahuapan when he got into the vehicle.
Due to the lack of information about their whereabouts, family members and friends launched search efforts and shared photographs and information about the three young people on social media to request assistance from the public.
The Puebla Attorney General’s Office is continuing its investigation to determine what happened to Gabriela, Reyna, and Alan, establish the cause of death, and determine responsibility.
