Rain will continue in Puebla until Monday; storms are expected in the Sierra and capital.

Puebla will experience a period of heavy rain over the next few days due to the interaction of troughs, low-pressure systems, and Tropical Waves 14 and 15. These conditions will also bring precipitation to much of central Mexico, according to the National Meteorological Service (SMN).

For the city of Puebla, the probability of rain remains high between Friday and Monday, with the possibility of showers, thunderstorms, and hail, mainly during the afternoons and evenings.

Although the most intense forecast is concentrated in the north and southeast of the state, atmospheric conditions favor recurring rain in the Puebla metropolitan area.

For Friday, July 3, the SMN forecasts heavy rainfall of between 25 and 50 millimeters in northern Puebla, while the southwest of the state will experience temperatures up to 40 degrees Celsius. The precipitation could be accompanied by lightning and hail.

On Saturday, July 4, a slight decrease in rainfall intensity is expected, with periods of showers between 5 and 25 millimeters in the state of Puebla. However, warm conditions will persist, with temperatures between 30 and 35 degrees Celsius in the northern and southwestern regions.

Rainfall will intensify again on Sunday, July 5, with rainfall between 25 and 50 millimeters forecast for the north and west of the state, along with wind gusts of up to 50 kilometers per hour.

The most intense scenario is expected on Monday, July 6, as northern and southeastern Puebla could experience very heavy rainfall between 50 and 75 millimeters, with a risk of rising river and stream levels, landslides in mountainous areas, and flooding in low-lying areas.

Which areas of Puebla will be most affected?

Northern Sierra: The most intense rainfall is expected during the coming days, especially on Monday.

Northeastern and southeastern mountains of the state: Risk of severe storms and flooding of rivers and ravines.

Puebla Metropolitan Area: High probability of afternoon showers, lightning, and possible flooding.

Mixteca region of Puebla: A hotter environment will prevail, with temperatures reaching up to 40 degrees Celsius, although isolated showers are possible.

The State of Mexico, Mexico City, Morelos, Tlaxcala, Hidalgo, and Querétaro will also experience rain and storms during the weekend and the beginning of next week.

The National Meteorological Service (SMN) warned that rainfall in the central region could cause flooding, landslides, fallen trees, road closures, and reduced visibility on highways. The SMN recommended that the public avoid crossing waterways and stay informed through official weather advisories.
