Zaira “A”, former Apple Queen of Zacatlán in 2000, was arrested on March 31 by ministerial police officers from the Puebla State Attorney General’s Office. The arrest was made pursuant to an arrest warrant issued by a judge of the state’s judicial branch following a complaint alleging her involvement in a real estate fraud.
According to the record issued by the National Registry of Detentions, Zaira “A” was apprehended while traveling with her family in a pickup truck on the Interserrana highway, near the El Aguacate area, in the Altica neighborhood of Zacatlán.
She was taken to the Ciudad Serdán Women’s Penitentiary to be held at the disposal of the judge who issued the arrest warrant. So far, the Puebla Prosecutor’s Office has not released further details of the case nor indicated the time of the initial hearing, which was supposed to have taken place yesterday.
Zaira “A” was crowned beauty queen at the 60th edition of the Zacatlán Apple Fair in 2000 and subsequently dedicated herself to various businesses, in addition to supporting local political campaigns.
According to some reports, the woman is allegedly linked to a multi-million-peso real estate fraud that was reported irregularly. The estimated value of the scam affecting several people exceeds 3 million pesos.
