The Archdiocese of Puebla and the city council presented the 34th annual Procession of Silence, or Good Friday, which will take place on Friday, April 3, 2026.
The following images will participate in the Stations of the Cross: the Lord of Miracles, Jesus of Nazareth, Our Lady of Sorrows, Our Lady of Solitude, the Lord of the Three Falls, Jesus of Divine Mercy, and the Holy Child Doctor of the Sick.
This year, Reforma Avenue between 9th and 7th North-South Streets will be completely silent.
Archbishop Víctor Sánchez Espinosa will lead the procession, delivering three messages: one at the beginning at the cathedral, the second on Paseo Bravo in front of the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and the last during the blessing.
Organizers expect to surpass the attendance of previous years, anticipating an increase from 180,000 to 190,000 Catholic faithful.
The religious event is scheduled so that each of the figures will leave their respective churches in the morning and gather in the atrium of the Puebla Cathedral. At noon, they will leave the cathedral to process through the Historic Center.
They will depart from the north side of the cathedral and proceed along 16 de Septiembre Street to Avenida Palafox y Mendoza.
They will then proceed down Palafox y Mendoza Street to 2 Norte Street.
They will continue along 2 Norte Street to 4 Oriente Street.
They will turn onto 4 Oriente Street and proceed up to 11 Norte Street (Paseo Bravo).
After the archbishop’s address, they will continue along 11 Norte Street to Avenida Reforma.
They will then proceed down Avenida Reforma towards the city center to 16 de Septiembre Street.
They will return to the cathedral via the 16 de Septiembre entrance.
To ensure the safety of all attendees, the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) will deploy security and traffic control measures from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
They will also have 255 members of the Municipal Police, 22 from the Advanced Medical Emergency System (SUMA), 100 from the State Police, 45 from Civil Protection and 10 from Tepeaca traffic, who will be in charge of guarding the image of the Holy Child Doctor.
