The air routes from Puebla to León and San Luis Potosí, which were inaugurated only on June 1 from Hermanos Serdán International Airport, will also be canceled by the airline Volaris because they did not reach the demand necessary to be profitable. With this, three destinations will stop operating, along with Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, out of the 12 destinations that were announced to expand connectivity in the state.
According to information provided by the company, the three routes will be suspended in Puebla starting August 29, because they recorded lower-than-expected demand.
The airline explained that it continuously reviews its schedules and the performance of its route network in order to maintain sustainable operations and offer competitive travel options to its customers.
Investments at Puebla Airport Can Take Up to a Year to Be Approved
As part of this process, the company decided to suspend the routes to Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, León, and San Luis Potosí, after recording demand levels below projections.
The company stated that these adjustments are part of its strategy to make room for routes that may perform better and respond more effectively to Puebla’s connectivity needs.
Three New Flights Will Launch in December
In this regard, the airline recalled that starting in December, it will operate direct flights from Puebla to destinations such as Chicago O’Hare, Acapulco, and Puerto Escondido.
Volaris stated that it remains confident in the Puebla market and will continue adjusting its route network to strengthen connections that show better demand conditions and allow it to offer competitive travel alternatives to passengers.
