Truck Carrying Concrete Blocks Overturns on the Puebla–Orizaba Highway; Driver Trapped Inside
On the afternoon of Friday, July 31, a serious accident occurred on the Puebla–Orizaba Highway near the Cumbres de Maltrata. A tractor-trailer transporting concrete blocks overturned, leaving one person trapped inside the vehicle.
According to official information, the incident occurred shortly after noon when emergency services received reports of the crash. The truck driver, who is believed to be the person trapped, reportedly lost control of the vehicle.
According to officers from the National Guard Highway Division, the truck was carrying more than eight tons of excess cargo.
The accident occurred at kilometer 242, in the direction from Puebla toward Veracruz, where the truck overturned and its cargo was scattered across several meters. As a result, the highway was closed, and authorities have not yet announced an estimated time for reopening.
Security authorities and emergency personnel responded immediately to the scene and closed the roadway while rescue operations were carried out.
Videos circulating on social media show the victim trapped inside the wreckage of the truck. However, specialized rescue personnel are responsible for carrying out the extraction.
Emergency responders from Federal Roads and Bridges (CAPUFE), the National Guard Highway Division, Grúas Guadalupe, the Public Security Secretariat, and the Secretariat of the Navy arrived at the scene.
Authorities are advising motorists to use caution and take alternate routes if possible, as there is currently no estimated time for the highway to reopen.
