The General Coordination of Civil Protection of the State of Puebla reported that, should emissions occur from the Popocatépetl volcano in the coming hours, ash could disperse to the north and northwest of the crater due to wind conditions.
According to the dispersion forecast issued this Wednesday, May 6, at 6:00 a.m., the Puebla regions with possible ashfall are the Atlixco Valley and Angelópolis.
Authorities also indicated that volcanic ash could drift toward neighboring states such as the State of Mexico, Mexico City, and Hidalgo.
Civil Protection urged the public to stay informed through official channels and follow preventive recommendations, especially in case of ashfall, such as covering water tanks, wearing face masks, and avoiding outdoor activities.
