Laura Velázquez Alzúa, head of the National Civil Protection Coordination (CNPC), reported that the greatest impacts from the recent rains have been in Veracruz, Puebla, Querétaro, Hidalgo, and Guerrero.
Participating in President Claudia Sheinbaum’s morning press conference, the official reported that Tropical Storm Raymond is moving across the Pacific, parallel to the national territory, entering Baja California Sur as a tropical depression, leaving damage in Chiapas, Guerrero, and Michoacán.
Regarding the storm in recent days, the official detailed that 31 states experienced rainfall of varying intensity, with Zihuatanejo, Guerrero, reporting the highest rainfall of 151 mm.
In Veracruz, 38 municipalities have been reported affected, especially in the municipality of Álamo, with 5,000 homes, where the Coordinator and Governor Rocío Nahle are based.
Six shelters were reported to have been activated for 523 people, and the DNIII Plan, the Marine Plan, and a CNPC liaison are active.
In Querétaro, five municipalities were reported affected by the flooding of the Jalpan River, landslides, and road collapses. Communications and Transportation is already working to resolve them.
In San Luis Potosí, 11 municipalities were reported affected by the rains, two neighborhoods severely affected by hill collapses, two streams with runoff, and rivers overflowing.
In Puebla, 26 municipalities were affected by landslides, landslides, road collapses, one school affected by flooding, rivers overflowing, and a hospital in Huauchinango was flooded.
The official also reported the deployment of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), primarily in northern Veracruz, but also in Puebla and San Luis, to restore service as quickly as possible.
