A confrontation between members of different unions over control of expansion works on the Puebla-Tlaxcala highway resulted in the blockade of the highway in both directions and outbreaks of anger among workers.
During the incident, physical aggression and the use of blunt objects, such as sticks and stones, were reported. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots, although authorities have not confirmed the use of firearms. At the scene, a pickup truck was set on fire on the side of the highway, already in Tlaxcala territory, along with plastic materials.
Authorities reported no injuries, only material damage. Traffic remains closed while security and control efforts are carried out.
The conflict resulted in a burned pickup truck, vandalized work machinery, and roadblocks on the highway. / Social Media Members of the National Guard, Navy, State Police, and Coronango Municipal Police are participating in the operation, securing the area to prevent further incidents. Civil Protection personnel also responded to the fire in the damaged vehicle.
