For the 2025 summer vacation season, Puebla is expected to receive 2.5 million domestic and international tourists, which will translate into significant economic growth.
This was emphasized by the state’s Secretary of Tourism Development, Carla López-Malo Villalón, who noted that summer is one of the most anticipated periods of the year, as it coincides with the chile en nogada season and fosters the arrival of gastronomic tourism.
She added that the tourist offerings for visitors during this vacation period include twelve magical towns, spas, nature reserves, as well as cultural activities and the opportunity to explore the state’s heritage.
Thus, the visitor projection for this period represents a 7 percent increase over the flow reported for the same period last year, the state official commented.
“Magical towns always have a lot of visitors, but we also have some municipalities with a tourist focus, such as Izúcar de Matamoros, which has beach resorts that receive a lot of people. Tehuacán-Cuicatlán also receives a lot of people. We’re expecting a 7 percent increase compared to last year during the summer,” she noted.
Of the 16 million visitors Puebla receives each year, the head of Tourism specified that 80 percent are domestic and 20 percent are foreign. Therefore, promotional campaigns are being carried out in Mexico, as well as in the United States, Canada, and Europe, which are potential markets for tourism.
Tourist Safety
Because the majority of visitors travel by road, the state’s Secretary of Tourism Development, Carla López-Malo Villalón, indicated that the Puebla government is working on strategies to improve tourism services.
He emphasized that the Strategic Security and Tourism Assistance Centers (CESAT) are currently underway, one at the Central de Abasto in the state capital and another in San Martín Texmelucan, and that another 15 are about to open in strategic areas of the state. “We want any visitor who comes to Puebla to feel safe and to know that we will take care of them.”
