Heavy rains caused flooding on the Mexico-Puebla highway, delays on Metro Line A, and damage to vendors at a street market in La Paz.
On Monday afternoon, a heavy downpour accompanied by hail flooded several sections of the Mexico-Puebla highway and surprised vendors at a street market.
According to initial reports, the rainfall began around 4:00 p.m. in the eastern part of the state.
The most significant damage occurred near the Concordia overpass, in the municipality of Los Reyes La Paz in the State of Mexico, and in Santa Martha Acatitla in the Iztapalapa borough of Mexico City.
The toll road’s service roads were submerged in the direction of the municipality of Chalco. A public transportation bus belonging to Route 98 was stranded when it attempted to cross a severely flooded section.
Similarly, flooding also affected service on Line A of the Mexico City Metro, which experienced slow speeds and delays due to water pooling on the tracks, with service only extending to Guelatao Station.
The heavy rainfall surprised vendors and customers at a street market that sets up on Mondays in the La Floresta neighborhood.
The rising water swept away their merchandise; fortunately, no injuries or deaths were reported, only material losses.
