It would be called the Central Train and both the route and the stations have been revealed through maps
In November, it is expected that the federal government will have a plan ready on how the existing train tracks in the country could be reactivated for the use of passenger transportation, including Puebla.
This issue was raised by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador in October, but in reality it has been present throughout the six-year term.
One of the promoters of these ideas has been the federal legislator of the National Regeneration Movement party (Morena) and businessman in the tourism sector, Miguel Torruco Garza.
In 2022, it made public a map of passenger train projections for 2050 that includes the Pacific, El Chepe, Western, Eastern Transversal, Gulf, Bajío, Central, Isthmus of Oaxaca, and Mayan Train trains.
The city of Puebla is included in the projection of the Central Train that would go from Veracruz to Guadalajara and that includes 15 different stations.
These are Veracruz, Córdoba, Orizaba, Puebla and from there it is divided into three aspects:
– The first goes to Tlaxcala, San Martín Texmelucan, Mexico City, Toluca, Ciudad de Hidalgo, Morelia, Zamora, Ocotlán and Guadalajara.
– A second slope goes from Puebla to Cuautla, then to Cuernavaca and reconnects with Mexico City.
– While the third goes from Puebla to Tulancingo and allows you to connect with another train.
This Central Train, on the other hand, would connect with six other railway routes by 2050, which would facilitate transfers to different parts of the country from the capital of Puebla:
– The most significant is the Oaxaca Train that would leave Puebla and Orizaba to connect with Tehuacán, Oaxaca and the final destinations Puerto Escondido and Huatulco.
– It would also connect with the Pacific Train that goes from Ensenada to Tapachula; with the Western Train that goes from Ciudad Juárez to Lázaro Cárdenas; with the Oriental that goes from Piedras Negras to Acapulco and with the Bajío, which goes from Puerto Vallarta to Poza Rica.
