Yankuilotl positions Puebla at the forefront of technological sovereignty in Mexico

The state is strengthening its national leadership in innovation and technological development with Yankuilotl, a strategic project that promotes technological sovereignty, the training of specialized talent, and the creation of high value-added industries. Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier affirmed that this initiative positions the state as a leader in technology, thanks to the support of the Undersecretary of Technological Development, Linkage, and Innovation of the Mexican Government, Celina Peña Guzmán.

He highlighted that Puebla ranks second nationally in university enrollment, a competitive advantage that will accelerate the state’s scientific, technological, and productive growth. He noted that semiconductor manufacturing represents technological sovereignty for Mexico and emphasized that the transformation of natural products is part of an inclusive model that generates opportunities for the entire population.

The governor indicated that the talent of Puebla’s young people forms the basis for consolidating an innovation ecosystem that strengthens the knowledge economy and enhances the state’s competitiveness.

For his part, Yankuilotl’s director, Lagtzú López Miro Castorena, reported that the project is being developed along three strategic axes: the semiconductor assembly plant, the software factory, and the State Public Bicycle System. He specified that the semiconductor assembly plant has been operating for three months with a Class 1000 Cleanroom, an infrastructure capable of manufacturing up to 200,000 units per hour, which positions Puebla as a national leader in this industry.

Regarding the software factory, he detailed that it has a team of 30 specialists, 20 of whom are already part of the workforce. This facility promotes technological solutions to improve public services and the state’s digital transformation.

As for the State Public Bicycle System, he explained that the digital platform is 90 percent complete. The project includes a payment gateway and integration with other transportation systems, with the aim of offering a modern, efficient, and integrated service for the public. She also mentioned that the digitization team develops applications for various government procedures, with tools adapted to specific needs and designed to provide more efficient and accessible services.

Yankuilotl aligns with the vision of Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo to contribute to the country’s technological sovereignty and scientific development. The coordination between the federal and state governments consolidates Puebla as a strategic hub for innovation, research, technology transfer, talent development, and the creation of highly specialized jobs.
