Huehue del Chirrión Carnival of Tetela de Ocampo announced

PUEBLA CITY, Pue. – To promote the customs and traditions of Tetela de Ocampo, the Secretariat of Tourism Development of the State of Puebla, in conjunction with the municipal authority, announced the Carnival of Huehue del Chirrión, which will take place on February 14, with the participation of 30 litters of colonies and auxiliary boards.

For this celebration, the arrival of 5 thousand visitors and an economic spill of 5 million pesos is expected, reported at a press conference the director of Tourism of Tetela de Ocampo, Efraín Cortés Barrientos, specifying that on February 12 and 13, there will also be two free jaripeos.

The carnival is more than 100 years old, and the current municipal administration is making the corresponding arrangements with the State Congress, so that this event is recognized as Cultural Heritage of the State, said the director of Culture, Miguel Juan Crisóstomo Bonilla Cruz.

For the state administration presided over by Alejandro Armenta, it is important to preserve history, culture, and heritage, and the carnival of this Magical Town is an example of this, said the director of Tourism Professionalization and Regulation, Luis Miguel de la Rosa Bachbush, on behalf of the Secretary of Tourism Development, Carla López-Malo Villalón.

Tetela de Ocampo is located in the Northeastern Sierra of Puebla, 2 and a half hours from the state capital. Among its attractions are its historic center, Aconco waterfalls, glass viewpoint, Acocomoca caves, and visitors can go hiking or rappelling, as well as enjoy its traditional gastronomy, such as gorditas de alberjón, escamoles, sweet bread, and tixmole.
