This afternoon, four cargo vehicles collided on the Puebla-Veracruz highway at kilometer 233, located between Esperanza and Maltrata. Traffic was affected by the closure of traffic for several hours.
Despite the spectacular nature of the accident, emergency crews reported no injuries, so they began clearing the area.

The vehicles involved in the accident were a torton truck transporting bales of straw, as well as a Thermo King container carrying vegetables.
A trailer carrying wire mesh on a flatbed semitrailer and a red tractor-trailer with a metal box were also involved, which was struck by a rear-end collision.
National Guard Highway Division officers responded to the scene after being alerted to the accident via the 911 emergency number. Due to the magnitude of the accident, they ordered a complete closure to traffic, causing long lines of vehicles to form. These vehicles were trapped in the traffic jam while other drivers took alternative routes to continue onward.
Federal authorities would be responsible for taking note and preparing the corresponding accident report, which would specify the probable causes of the collision and determine who was responsible.
An expert appraisal would also be conducted to estimate the material losses caused by the collision. Until the cause of the accident is determined, the vehicles would be towed to a corral where they would be held as collateral for the competent authority.
It should be noted that earlier this month, a fuel tanker truck crashed at kilometer 261, completely burning the vehicle, as was a private pickup truck, with no fatalities reported.
Another accident, in which the vehicle also ended up burned, occurred earlier this week in the community of Las Granjas in the municipality of Tres Valles. A railroad engine ran over and caused a truck to explode. The driver apparently tried to overtake the truck but failed, resulting in the accident killing the driver and the driver.
Therefore, traffic authorities and emergency groups are urging drivers in general to drive with caution in high-risk areas to avoid these types of accidents.
