The Julita and Antonio Foundation and the Association for the Defense and Support of the Real Estate Industry warned that land invasions for real estate fraud are worsening in Puebla.
Representatives of both organizations considered it urgent to intervene by state and municipal authorities to stop these land invasions.
They denounced the intent to commit real estate fraud and take advantage of the goodwill of people seeking to build a home.
At a press conference, they cited as an example the case of the land belonging to the former La Covadonga estate, where armed groups invaded more than 10 hectares two years ago.
The invaders, they reported, divided the land into more than 400 lots, which are currently being offered at prices exceeding 200,000 pesos with very low monthly payments.
As a result of this fraud, buyers—especially those with limited resources—will never be able to obtain the deeds, and will therefore lose the money they have contributed.
They explained that the possible involvement of the Agua Inmaculada company in the illegal invasion of part of the former La Covadonga estate was recently revealed, as there is photographic evidence showing the water treatment company announcing that the land is its property.
They called on the authorities to quickly approve the Real Estate Law, which is already being reviewed by the local Congress, as it is estimated that thousands of people have been defrauded by fake real estate agents marketing invaded properties.
The illegal invasion and marketing of land is facilitated because the affected properties are located in border areas between Puebla and Tlaxcala.
