The Puebla-Orizaba Highway toward Acatzingo remains closed Monday night following a collision between a heavy vehicle and a private vehicle near Cumbres de Maltrata, resulting in one death and significant property damage.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. at kilometer 251 of the toll road, when a Jeep Liberty pickup truck with Veracruz license plates was traveling in the right lane and was struck by a tractor-trailer.
According to investigations, the driver of the Freighliner pickup truck with Federal Public Service license plates was unable to stop in time due to excessive speed and wet asphalt.
The truck ran over the pickup truck, which dragged the vehicle for several meters until it crashed into the edge of the hill. The driver of the private vehicle was trapped between the twisted metal.
Motorists traveling through the area noticed the accident and immediately requested emergency services to provide first aid.
Paramedics from the Federal Highways and Bridges (CAPUFE) responded to the scene and, after examining the driver of the truck, reported that he unfortunately no longer had vital signs.
Personnel from the Puebla State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) removed the body, completed the necessary procedures, and ordered its transfer to the corresponding amphitheater. The victim’s identity remains confidential.
Members of the National Guard (GN), Highway Division, were informed of the vehicle accident.

According to the latest CAPUFE report, issued through its X account, users of the Puebla-Orizaba Highway were informed that traffic remains closed at kilometer 251 toward Acatzingo.
CAPUFE personnel are on site responding to the accident, and drivers are asked to exercise extreme caution and/or take alternate routes to avoid delays.
