Puebla reports 138 cases of alcohol poisoning, 44 women and 94 men

According to the Epidemiological Surveillance report for week 12 of 2025, Puebla reported 138 cumulative cases of acute alcohol poisoning, of which 44 were women and 94 were men. This figure places the state with the tenth highest incidence in the country.

It is worth mentioning that, during the same period in 2024, the Ministry of Public Health recorded 203 cases of acute alcohol poisoning in the state of Puebla.

States with the highest incidence of acute alcohol poisoning:

Guanajuato – 398 cases
Jalisco – 340 cases
State of Mexico – 327 cases
Mexico City – 277 cases
Veracruz – 157 cases

States with the lowest incidence:

Baja California Sur – 10 cases
Campeche – 5 cases
Colima – 12 cases
Nayarit – 32 cases
Tlaxcala – 29 cases

National Overview

Nationwide, 4,968 cases of acute alcohol poisoning have been reported so far this year, affecting 3,260 men and 1,085 women.

This reflects a marked trend in alcohol consumption among the male population, with more than 65% of cases concentrated among men.

Compared to 2024, when more than 5,000 cases had accumulated by the same week, a slight reduction in the total incidence is observed.
