The presence of street vendors in downtown Puebla remains low

For the second consecutive day, there was little presence of street vendors in the Historic Center of Puebla, from 2 Oriente – Poniente, where only some informal vendors were installed to sell food and clothing.

In the heart of the city, the considerable decrease in people dedicated to street vendors continues, so free transit between pedestrians, cars and transport trucks that cross the roads is observed.

This situation is very noticeable from 8 Oriente – Poniente, because that street was part where street vendors traditionally set up to offer their products such as umbrellas, pajamas, hats and toys for children, to mention a few.

The same situation is repeated in 10, 12, 14 and 16 Oriente – Poniente, where there is a large flow of passenger transport units, which connect with different points of the city of Puebla.

In the coming days, the first meetings between the leaders of the groups and the Secretary of the Interior, Franco Rodríguez Álvarez, are expected, in order to reach agreements on their presence in the center.

During election times, José Chedraui announced that they would give spaces to street vendors, where they could sell their projects. In addition, during his inauguration he said that his administration will combat the informality that exists in 60 percent of the population, although he did not detail specifically with what strategies.
