A security video went viral on social media showing alleged bouncers hitting a young man who was leaving the bar “El Pre”, located on Avenida Juárez, in the city of Puebla.
The video shows around eight people approaching the young man and kicking, punching and even hitting him with bats. It is said that the reason he was attacked is that he refused to leave a tip at the establishment.
The attack occurred on June 25 of this year, however, it went viral these days when it was posted on social media.
The tip is the percentage of the bill that the customer decides to leave or not to leave for the waiter according to the service he received at the place, this contribution is not mandatory, nor does it have a minimum percentage.
The Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco) establishes that “the tip is a voluntary gratuity and cannot be included in the bill without the consumer’s consent.”
Likewise, establishments are prohibited from asking customers for a minimum consumption, which is why they ask people to carefully review the bill when they go to a place, be it a bar or restaurant.
“El Pre” had already had reports of violence by its employees; in May, the aggression of security personnel against customers was reported on social networks; in the video, an alleged bouncer is seen slapping a girl outside the bar.
The video was published by the digital newspaper Página Negra, specialized in crime reports and citizen complaints, and was picked up by ADN 40, which published it on its social networks.
Neither the Puebla Attorney General’s Office nor the bar “El Pre” have commented on the violent events in May and June.
