High-Level Gang Leader “El Amarillo” Arrested in Exclusive Puebla Development

PUEBLA, Mexico — Federal and state security forces arrested Govén Ulisses “N,” known by the aliases “El Amarillo” or “El Gobén,” during an early morning operation on Thursday, August 27th, in the upscale commercial district of Sonata within Lomas de Angelópolis, Puebla.

Authorities identified the detainee as a high-priority target and the alleged leader of an armed criminal cell affiliated with “Los Rusos,” an enforcement faction linked to the Sinaloa Cartel (“La Mayiza”). Two bodyguards accompanying him were also taken into custody.

Security and Public Protection Secretary Omar García Harfuch announced the capture via social media, attributing the success to joint intelligence operations led by the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), the Navy (SEMAR), the National Intelligence Center (CNI), and local law enforcement agencies across Puebla and Guerrero states.

“El Amarillo” is recognized as a chief generator of violence in Acapulco, Guerrero. Investigators suspect him of orchestrating extortion rings, kidnappings, targeted homicides, and large-scale drug distribution in the Pacific coastal region. During the raid along Europa Boulevard, authorities seized weapons, illegal narcotics, and luxury vehicles. Simultaneous search warrants were executed at adjacent properties across the residential development, which spans San Andrés Cholula and Santa Clara Ocoyucan.

It remains unclear whether the suspect resided in the luxury complex or was in transit through the area. Security personnel maintained a visible presence throughout the commercial strip following the arrest.

García Harfuch expressed gratitude to Puebla Governor Alejandro Armenta and Guerrero Governor Evelyn Salgado for their inter-agency cooperation. The arrest marks a significant operational blow against organized crime networks operating along Mexico’s central and southern transit corridors.
