Ejidatarios from Santa Rita Tlahuapan threatened to close the Mexico-Puebla highway on Tuesday, August 6, due to the demands they maintain against the Federal government for the payment of their compensation for the lands expropriated for the construction of the highway and those of the Izta-Popo National Park.
Peasants take over the Mexico-Puebla; they demand payment for expropriated landsIt should be remembered that the ejidatarios affected by the construction of this communication route maintained a struggle that lasted 60 years, until in 2018, the federation released a total of 179 million pesos for the corresponding payments.
However, not all the ejidatarios received their payment. As a result, 25 of them maintain a struggle against the previous Ejidal Commissariat headed by Carlos S., who is a fugitive, while the secretary and the treasurer are detained.
In this context and for several months, the ejidatarios have carried out a series of blockades on the Mexico-Puebla highway, with the purpose of demanding that the authorities resolve the payment, however, so far they have not received a response for these events.
The last of these blockades occurred a little over two weeks ago and lasted more than 10 hours.
In light of this, residents of Tlahuapan and motorists are asking the state government to avoid the closure of this road.
