The current administration has led Mexico, in its first two years of government, to unprecedented setbacks in economic and health matters, as well as insecurity, social cohesion, and institutional stability, said the leader of the National Action Party, Marko Cortés Mendoza .
“We are suffering the consequences of an incompetent and authoritarian government, which has worsened the living conditions of Mexicans. We have reached two years of misrule where the disaster is colossal and the setbacks are unprecedented. So much so that Mexico finds itself immersed simultaneously in several crises: economic, health, security and social, “he said.
Cortés Mendoza explained that according to a report by Inegi, GDP shows a drop of 8.6%; one million formal and informal businesses closed this year; Banxico estimates that 2020 will close with 850 thousand formal jobs lost; 33 million people are unemployed or underemployed; and, according to Coneval, more than 10 million Mexicans will go from poverty to extreme poverty.
In health, the president of the PAN added, the mismanagement of the Covid-19 pandemic has officially caused the death of more than 105 thousand people, making Mexico the fourth country with the most deaths from this disease worldwide. , in addition to having a fatality rate four times higher than the world average (9.7% versus 2.4%), and where the real death toll may be double according to scientists.
And in terms of security, Cortés Mendoza said that the government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador is the one in which there has been the most violent in the recent history of Mexico, with more than 56 thousand crimes of intentional homicides in 23 months of government, against 33 thousand in the government of Enrique Peña Nieto in the same period, so that his six-year term could end with more than 175 thousand intentional homicides.
Regarding the institutional life of the country, the leader affirmed that the political sign of the current administration is authoritarianism, since he took office the President has directed his attacks on opposition political parties, particularly National Action, to journalists, the media, civil society, autonomous bodies, and the Judiciary.
“The President has embarked on a strategy of division among Mexicans, which is exacerbating differences and social resentments. Far from contributing to national unity, he encourages rancor and division between brothers,” he concluded.
